Delta Business Class
« on: July 15, 2011, 03:42:18 PM »
I'm flying Business Class this Succus on Delta from JFK to TLV. The aircraft is a Boeing 747-400. There is an additional Business Class on the upper deck on the plane.  I was wondering from people who flew on this plane if there is a big difference between the cabin on the upper deck and on the main floor and what they prefer.
Thanks!
D.B.

I've had the exact opposite experience - I've been told "what you are doing is called a 'walk-up' and you have to pay full price." YMMV.

Different airlines have different 'rules'.

I've been offered to upgrade to Business for $300 once on the way to Israel. It was with UA or LH - I can't remember now. But I never had that happen again.
On the plane I've been quoted $700 up to $2,000+

As I understand it with Delta, the "upgrade" price for a walk-up is absolutely ridiculous -- it is the price of a 1 way ticket in Business/First, plus the change fee from your coach ticket (without even a credit for the amt paid for your coach ticket if it is non-refundable).  They have no such thing as a "$300" fee to upgrade one way somewhere.

EL AL -- different story entirely.  There, they even have a partner site which lets you bid online for the price to upgrade, which uses some dynamic algorithm based on occupancy on the flight
