I didn't even bother mentioning it to my wife, because I didn't dream in a million years that she would be okay with me going. But we were sitting at lunch the day that the guys arrived in Iceland, and I mentioned it to my wife, and she's like "oh, why didn't you go with them?" :o :o :o

Heh, just noticed this ...

Just saw the Shutterfly book.  I've been trying to put together my own Shutterfly book on Iceland, but couldn't figure out how to do the Icelandic letters, and did not want to use another program.  Can you share how you did it?

Simple: copy and paste. Grab the correct text from anywhere on the internet and paste it in; Shutterfly will keep the Icelandic characters.

That's only to "like" a post. Doesn't work for liking likes.  :)

[whYME] Some lessons learned while driving that night:

1. If you're the one driving, try and leave the sky-watching to the passengers. I know it's important to know if there's any new aurora displays, but it's more important to pay attention to the road.
2. When disobeying rule #1, if you're approaching a one-lane bridge, be extra cautious and make sure you're not about to hit a tractor trailer head-on.
3. When disobeying rule #2, you darn well better hope the tractor trailer flashes his high beams and honks his air horn at you to get your attention with enough time for you to stop before the bridge...

They are finally replacing that bridge: https://icelandmonitor.mbl.is/news/news/2021/05/14/dangerous_bridge_will_be_taken_out_of_use/

It's also incredibly windy there. I recorded winds of nearly 50mph there on a day with supposedly nice weather:
