Topic Wiki

I am trying to put a list together of the pro's and cons of the main bassinet strollers:

UppaBaby (UB)
PRO:
so easy to push
great basket (HUGE)
the bassinet is easy to take on and off
the wheels are easy to remove if need be
folds in a sinch
handle bar is great for tall and short people
the rumble seat lets the kid sit like a human being (not slide down)
the break is easy to push and doesnt break easily
the lay back position is great for kids who need to sleep on the go
the sun visor is a life savor
option to use with car seat (need to purchase the adapter)
fantastic customer service

con:
its wide but still easy to push
it can be heavy for some
the lock to close the stroller (it broke on mine)

Has anyone tried the new bug C3 yet? Apparently 90% of the parts are new as well as some design changes..much bigger basket.

I have the C3...not sure if it's so much better than the 2012...they said a lot of differences but when I compared the specs seemed pretty much the same. Oh actually the fold should be easier on the c3 but I dont fold mine much...

UB wheels kill the competition bar none. My wife is very short and has no issue with the UB

The bugs have no place for a normal diaper bag whereas an UB can fit an insane amount of bags. Its just so much more practical. I wish they had a real double.

The donkey has a great side basket to put the diaper bag in and has a large underbasket which I think the new cam3 has as well. Also most real jogging strollers have air filled tires not foam since they handle the outside elements better

Sure but then your stroller won't fit down the aisle.  The UBV can fit a diaper bag and 6 full shopping bags without being as wide as a cow.

The UBV pushes like a dream.  Nothing else pushes as well that I've seen.
I started off with a Bug Frog that had air tires...they were a total PITA.  At least it was free as it rots in my basement now.

A guy in CLE got the BugC3 thinking he was smarter than everyone else in shul here who has the UBV.  He returned it within a month when he was able to do a fair comparison and admits that there's no advantage of the Bug at all.

Don't think I can convince my wife. We tried the ub and it hurts her wrists even on the lowest setting. And she feels like its a truck.
What can a man do??
The UB handle is 40" from the ground.  Unless your wife is under 4 feet tall I don't see how it could be an issue...

Buy both from Bed bath and use each for a week and report the results.

MrsKrackedDude says, "I want to know how the Mamas & Papas compares to the UBV. They are pretty much in the same price range, but the Ma&Pa is much smaller and sleeker. Thank you."

How does the BedBathBeyond deal work? something about making a registry and free shipping in store and accepting coupons but I'm confused about it.

I'm pretty sure he's talking about the Donkey in single mode, which is 1.5in less wide than the UBV. While in that mode it also gives you 2 storage options - down in the bottom basket or up closer within reach in the extra basket they provide. Hard to say without actually being able to compare the 2, but I'd say the Donkey probably has more storage space in single mode than the UBV.

A far more convincing argument against the Donkey would be price, with an MSRP of $1200. It does have an advantage of converting to a side by side double if that's something you'll need/want, but $1200... come on.

I don't know much about the donkey, but wow, $1,600 for the double...crazy.  And still no storage space as a double...why cant Bugaboo fix that?
And stupid (IMHO) air filled tires.  Why does the BC3 have foam and the donkey has air??

$1600 is for a twin double not the regular double. The twin comes with 2 bassinets & 2 seats and has a large storage basket underneath the seats. and yes the donkey is actually narrower then the uppa baby so would not be a problem getting through places plus you then have the side basket which is amazing. Talk to any stroller expert they will tell you air filled tires are better than foam if you do any jogging/off road walks. Also another plus the bugaboo has over uppa baby is the ability to ride on the back 2 wheels when going through snow or sand. It is much easier to pull that way.But to each their own...

I have UBV as my primary stroller. I am looking for a second stroller to keep in the car for quick shopping trips. I don't want to spend more than $200.
Criteria: Decent Basket, Large Canopy/Sun Shade, Sleek Design, Reclines, Easy Fold, Easy Push, Light

UB Gluxe?
I don't think any umbrellas have good baskets.

It looks like a regular old Maclaren. Doesn't qualify for "Sleek design", but it's a good option.

I have the maclaren techno xlr which i got on sale for under $200, actually under $100 but it was a crazy sale. Look at the techno its cheaper and its a great stroller. I would not suggest the maclaren volo since it doesnt recline at all.
