Topic Wiki

I am trying to put a list together of the pro's and cons of the main bassinet strollers:

UppaBaby (UB)
PRO:
so easy to push
great basket (HUGE)
the bassinet is easy to take on and off
the wheels are easy to remove if need be
folds in a sinch
handle bar is great for tall and short people
the rumble seat lets the kid sit like a human being (not slide down)
the break is easy to push and doesnt break easily
the lay back position is great for kids who need to sleep on the go
the sun visor is a life savor
option to use with car seat (need to purchase the adapter)
fantastic customer service

con:
its wide but still easy to push
it can be heavy for some
the lock to close the stroller (it broke on mine)

the Bassinet faces him. It's lighter, less clunky, smoother on cobblestone and bumpy terrain, can take more abuse, is cheaper, and significantly easier with travel in cars, buses, and planes.
Right, it was 2 separate questions, at least the way I read it. Can the regular seat face the parent, like the Vista or Select (no). Does it have a bassinet option (yes). When comparing to the Select and/or Vista, I agree with lighter, less clunky, cheaper, and easier to travel with, but not smoother and can take more abuse.

Bottom line, if you have to shlep it up 2 flights of stairs all the time, it's not even a question - go with the GT. You won't miss not facing the baby once he/she is out of the of the bassinet.

The City Mini GT has a very small basket IME
Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.

also, if you're going to be bumping it up adn down stairs, you need something with (i) large back wheels, and (ii) weight balanced on the back.

Correct. Smaller them average which is my only issue with it.

I don't love the idea that there is no option of having a child face me when in the seat. Also the one wheel in the from makes it seem not as sturdy. Is it really sturdy with only one wheel?

It feels very sturdy, but it's hard to bump it up sidewalk or stairs, unless you go backwards.

There is no stroller that you can bump up stairs forward.

as for down, there is no stroler that you can bump backward.  you need to face down the staris when when bumping.

It's very sturdy and I specifically wanted that single wheel. Gives it greater mobility.

Im laughing at the thought of bumping up the stroller forwards. Or vise versa.

Thank You everyone! Right now I am still really looking into vista and select. Does anyone have experience with those, bumping up the steps and walking on uneven sidewalks? Are they really that heavy that I should start looking into city mini GT intensely. I really like the other great qualities of the select and vista. The seat can face me and they seem to have nice size baskets.

You said this is your first child. Why are you so sure that the seat facing you is a must have? Also, remember that if you buy the bassinet, the baby is facing you in that configuration.

To me the basket is a bigger deal. One thing you can do to help mitigate that issue is to get hooks for the handlebar:

I am going to start doing my research on the city min GT.
If anyone has any other advice for me on any of these strollers I would really appreciate it.

Alol. Although my BIL perfected a method going forward up steps in Yerushalayim
(Old city street types).

Or the non-GT version, which is cheaper.

Or this, which is cheapest. https://www.amazon.com/Baby-Jogger-Stroller-Discontinued-Manufacturer/dp/B00GEF7MOM
because it's discontinued.  I have one. It fell apart after a year, but they replaced it for me.

Yes but you can go up the sidewalk forwards in most strollers. The 3 wheel GT makes it a little harder. Still worth it for the mobility and ease of pushing.

I also love the 1-handed fold. But the basket is MUCH smaller than the basket in my snap n go. For that reason I used the snap n go until my baby outgrew the infant seat.

I go up sidewalk curbs forwards in my city lite all the time.

I don't mind spending more if it is easier to push and is better quality. I rather spend more on a stroller that will last me.
