Topic Wiki

I am trying to put a list together of the pro's and cons of the main bassinet strollers:

UppaBaby (UB)
PRO:
so easy to push
great basket (HUGE)
the bassinet is easy to take on and off
the wheels are easy to remove if need be
folds in a sinch
handle bar is great for tall and short people
the rumble seat lets the kid sit like a human being (not slide down)
the break is easy to push and doesnt break easily
the lay back position is great for kids who need to sleep on the go
the sun visor is a life savor
option to use with car seat (need to purchase the adapter)
fantastic customer service

con:
its wide but still easy to push
it can be heavy for some
the lock to close the stroller (it broke on mine)

When I bought the UB I knew it wasn't a great carriage to take in and out of a car.  I figured I didn't really need to take it in and out very often.  When my baby outgrew the snap-n-go, I realized how hard it was to keep taking the UB in and out of the car etc, I splurged and bought a G-luxe to keep in the car and the UB stays at home.  Figured I would get more life out of the UB if I didn't keep taking it in and out of the car!

What made you decide to go with the frog and gluxe?
hey
the frog bec my brother had and loved it for yrs so quality was good and a cpl hundred off is what got me

i also needed an umbrella stroller being that im going to europe next month with my baby all due to you
and the reviews that i read was that gluxe has a massive canopy so no sun in their face and more importantly  the seat reclines back alot compared to maclaren. plus it was lighther than maclaren and it is same price as those like 180

I see you will get a million opinions!
The g-luxe, mclaren , citi min(even the bubbleride) they are all one look.
They are all part of the cheaper line. The bubbleride flyer does face you. So in the cheaper line you do have some that face you.

The uppababy, urbo (which is really nice looking) , bugaboo, valco etc these strollers are all more expensive but have a bassinet.
If you want to splurge, the stroller with the best reviews across the board is the uppababy (it has every pro about a stroller - the one con being that its a little big but I think worth it) but you may want to get a $100 maclaren umbrella stroller for traveling.

Good luck

Good luck.

i have lots to add.. but every time i try i realize i have to much to add.... but one thing i will say is that right now you want the baby facing you, but when hes about 5 months old all he wants is to look around. I also focused on that so much- and he hated facing me! and until 5 months i had a bassinet and an infant seat!!! i will only switch mine facing me now if the sun is strong and my hood isnt the best hood around and hes sleepin. Remember... infant seat till around age 7 months, than you put them into a seat (unless u do bassinet which is really difficult to travel with..) and by then they wanna see out. Another thing, i happen to love my air filled tired- it rides so smooth.. but you only need that for rocky roads. and what i find the funniest is that i love my travel stroller above all $500+ strollers!!!(cybex callisto http://cybex-online.com/site/us/pushchairs/callisto0.html.. best travel stroller and best customer service ive ever seen!!!!) But i do love to have a big bouncy expensive stroller as well- but the more practical it is and the more useful it is the more you'll love it....

I think every kid is different here. That's why it makes sense to get a stroller that is flexible and allows for both forward and parent-facing options.

Dan ,
A few more questions to you.
1. Do you want a bassinet? That makes  a difference. Some include the price some dont.
2. Do you want it to turn into a double( i personally dont like that- I have the old combi double and the city elite. I love the city elite double I have twins that are 3 now and used it since they outgrew the snap n go) Pays to buy a single and one day a double if you need.
3. Where do you plan to use it? On sidewalks, mall or in country settings?
4. Do you want from the cheaper strollers like citi mini category or from whats called luxury strollers (bugabbo, urbo, valco, uppababy etc).
5. Would you consider buying a nicer stroller for home and a $100 car stroller?(eventhough if its just you and your wife and one kid I see no reason you cant take the big strollers- maybe a little more effort but I see in the elite malls everyone pushing uppababy and bb so they take it in the car.

After you answer I can probably give you a better answer.
what do you think about the The First Years Wave Stroller its got alot of good features. The only thing which I dont like so much is that it has plastic wheels vs air-filled rubber ones..whats your take on it?  http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004FN0Z8A/?tag=cl03f-20

Just wanted to let you guys now that I ended up buying the Maxi Cosi Foray for $160 on albeebaby.com http://www.albeebaby.com/maxi-cosi-foray-stroller-choco-mint.html
Just got it today and so far the brake button doesnt release properly. You have to get down and release it manually :-[
Otherwise it looks like a solid stroller  and has nice big air filled tires in the back.

What can I say . Great customer service! They offered me the new maxi cosi lx as a replacement which retails for $400 . A++ cs! The difference between the regular foray and the foray lx is 1) The lx folds with the seat 2) the lx reclines to bassinet mode front-facing and back-facing.3) the lx has  bigger storage . More reviews when it comes!

thats the trick i learnt with baby stuff in general... buy the old model pay the chpr price and almost always there is a problem- they send you the new product cus they dont have the old one in stock.... done that at least 4 times.... it always works!!
njoy ur new stroller!!
