I am trying to put a list together of the pro's and cons of the main bassinet strollers:

UppaBaby (UB)
PRO:
so easy to push
great basket (HUGE)
the bassinet is easy to take on and off
the wheels are easy to remove if need be
folds in a sinch
handle bar is great for tall and short people
the rumble seat lets the kid sit like a human being (not slide down)
the break is easy to push and doesnt break easily
the lay back position is great for kids who need to sleep on the go
the sun visor is a life savor
option to use with car seat (need to purchase the adapter)
fantastic customer service

con:
its wide but still easy to push
it can be heavy for some
the lock to close the stroller (it broke on mine)

Can you gate check the bugaboo chameleon (bassinet)?
How can we travel with it easily?
you can buy the bag but i know plenty of ppl who just checked it in at the gate
If you have any questions please search and then ask. PM me for detailed help.

I'm just worried because I heard they are really rough and it's my brother's stroller. Am I being over cautious?
I remember when a coke was a nickel, and you could buy VRs in OD.

im in the market for a stroller and any recommendations would be great.
i am looking for a stroller that would be good for living in Israel as well as be convenient when flying. lightweight is a requirement as well as decently simple to fold up. im also not looking to spend more than $450 total.
Thanks so much!

City Mini GT. You could spend more on something a little more... robust, I guess is the word (UB Vista being the most popular on this thread). But then you'd be cutting it closer to your budget and you'd be sacrificing in the lightweight/easy fold department. Ultimately you should try out any options you're interested in at a store before making a decision.

I agree that the Citi Mini is probably his best bet.
Is the GT really worth the $100? What's the difference other than the wheels?

The wheels is a huge deal IMO. It also has a different handlebar (straight across and height adjustable, as opposed to the regular model that has a fixed, rounded handlebar) and a hand break (as opposed to the foot break on the regular model).

So the wheels are worth $100?
The other difference don't seem like a big deal.

I have a City Mini single and a City Elite double (they don't make them anymore - got it lightly used for $100). The Elite is way bigger/heavier than the Mini or Mini GT putting it easily out of this discussion, but it has those 3 features that the GT has over the regular Mini (adjustable handlbar, hand break, and foam tires). It has other upgrades over the GT as well - the tires are the same type but much bigger, magnetic sun flaps, side vent flaps, etc. But I'd say that the 3 features the GT adds are worth the $100 based on seeing the difference between not having them on the Mini regular and having them on the Elite.

it prob would make a huge difference to me as it is for Israel where the streets can get quite bumpy. also i travel often and its less then desirable surfaces more often than not

I figured. Like I said, go into a store and push them around, just so you're sure it's what you're looking for (that's true no matter what you get). The GT is heavier (almost all the extra weight is the difference in wheels), but still light overall, and with the same really compact, quick fold.

+1 for city mini GT in Israel
yes UBV is most popular in this thread and it is an amazing carriage but having had the city mini in Israel and the UBV in America my opinion is that for Israel the City Mini is more practical

I'll just reiterate what some of the others said -
-it's lightweight enough to hold with one hand
-the one step fold can't be beat - you can take the baby out and hold him/her in one hand while using the other to fold the carriage and load it into a taxi/bring it on to the bus
-even the taxi drivers in Israel know how to fold the City Mini!
-for a newborn its great to get the car seat adapter and use the city mini as a snap n go type of carriage (but it has real wheels)
-def worth it to get the GT for the rough roads (and if you're one of those who bumps the carriage up/down steps)

For those looking into the city mini, pishposhbaby.com has the black 2015 model on sale for 329 (down from 449).

I used it to price match at my local buy buy baby, and lucky me they didn't have the regular citi mini in stock, so they gave me the GT :)
