Topic Wiki

I am trying to put a list together of the pro's and cons of the main bassinet strollers:

UppaBaby (UB)
PRO:
so easy to push
great basket (HUGE)
the bassinet is easy to take on and off
the wheels are easy to remove if need be
folds in a sinch
handle bar is great for tall and short people
the rumble seat lets the kid sit like a human being (not slide down)
the break is easy to push and doesnt break easily
the lay back position is great for kids who need to sleep on the go
the sun visor is a life savor
option to use with car seat (need to purchase the adapter)
fantastic customer service

con:
its wide but still easy to push
it can be heavy for some
the lock to close the stroller (it broke on mine)

-Can the carrycot be used without removing the existing seat-cloth?
IINM the regular seat would need to be removed.

Not the right thread for this, but I'm too freaked out (aka traumatized) to stop myself.

Was walking down Paran a couple of hours ago, saw a mother pushing a stroller out of yesh, bumped it from sidewalk to street, and a doll went flying in to the air and fell flat on to the ground.  Then I realized it wasn't a doll...  It was extremely painful to see that happen to a baby, and it was extremely painful to see the wife's emotional/nervous breakdown.  Yes, you can blame the mother for not buckling up the kid (id assume baby was around 1 yr old, and was sleeping i think); but the bump was very small.. and (which is the reason I'm posting this) the design of the stroller was terrible.  There was almost no sides to the thing.  I know of a similar story of a lady who's baby came flying out of her stroller when they were on a bus and it stopped short.  Obviously #1 - keep your baby strapped even if you think he/she doesn't need it.  BUT, #2 - your stroller should be one where the baby sits IN it not ON it.

Sorry for the rant.. i cant get over the images of tonight

(p.s., i went over to the hatzala guy afterwards, apologized for seeming to be a hocker and asking him how's the kid, but since i saw it i needed to know and he said bh the kid was good, they just had to go do some tests to make sure)
I've seen instances where the baby went flying out even with sides. Head first right out the front.

Really cool! Still can't see how the seat part comes off to be used on its own. Plus the Doona still looks like a better option if you need a car seat for your infant. You planning on getting one/contributing to the Kickstarter campaign?

No, I already have the Doona. And $500 for such a niche product isn't sustainable so it will either be in overstock sites in 6 months or there will be half a dozen knockoffs.

Anybody have experience with the little platform on wheels that connects on the back for a kid to stand on (I've even seen with a seat) ? Does it need to be specifically the same company as the stroller ?

Not sure how far upthread. UB can easily expand to a double stroller (front/back, not side/side), it's easier to collapse, and you can buy a Mesa car seat that fits in without an adapter.

Depends on who's having a sale. Nordstrom offers returns even if used (BB&B doesn't on strollers). How quickly do you need one?

So if the price is the same either go with Nordstrom for returns or an out of state store to save on sales tax.
