Topic Wiki

I am trying to put a list together of the pro's and cons of the main bassinet strollers:

UppaBaby (UB)
PRO:
so easy to push
great basket (HUGE)
the bassinet is easy to take on and off
the wheels are easy to remove if need be
folds in a sinch
handle bar is great for tall and short people
the rumble seat lets the kid sit like a human being (not slide down)
the break is easy to push and doesnt break easily
the lay back position is great for kids who need to sleep on the go
the sun visor is a life savor
option to use with car seat (need to purchase the adapter)
fantastic customer service

con:
its wide but still easy to push
it can be heavy for some
the lock to close the stroller (it broke on mine)

This is extremely surprising to hear. We have gotten incredibly good service from them - sending replacement parts out quickly, for free, no questions asked. Always a pleasure to deal with. I've heard the same from friends, too.

If you have a problem with the UBV being bulky, you should probably stay far away from the Select. It might be the bulkiest, heaviest stroller around. I loved the idea of the different configurations and Citi's incredibly easy folds. But speaking to anyone with real world use, they hate it. Never met anyone happy with their purchase. When we were looking at it in the store, the saleslady warned us strongly against getting it. She said she gets a ton of complaints from those that bought it.

Just my 2 cents.
For a single? Sure. For a double? Definitely not. I'm not saying I would recommend it, but it's not bulky in comparison to most double strollers.

Very top-heavy and hard to push

I guess my experience was an exception. I complained about the stroller not folding easily and they were extremely unhelpful. Additionally, I needed to order new parts about 6 months ago and again they were unhelpful. I finally got the new part about a month ago.

I figure any double is going to be somewhat bulky so I am just giving up in that area for easier folding and more configurations. Of all the people I know that have the citi select double none dislike it in fact all really like it. Actually two of them had the ubv and strongly recomend the citi select (at least for a double)

Considering that no one else that has used the stroller more than a week seems to have the issue its either just you or just your stroller.

I didn't look for doubles so I can't really give such an educated opinion - I only checked out the Select as it is a single that can later become a double. But anecdotal experience from those I know, it is heavy and difficult to get around with. I know one switched to the Citi Mini double.

Very top-heavy and hard to push
Which is different than bulky and heavy (the quote I replied to).

If you think you'll be switching a lot between single and double modes, then maybe Select might be the right choice. Otherwise I'd say go with the City Mini GT. The fold in double mode is not as quick and easy with the Select, and it certainly doesn't fold as flat as the Mini series. Only thing you miss out on is the extra configuration possibilities, which I personally think is not a big deal. At the very least go into the store with your kids, put them both in each (Mini GT and Select in double mode) and see which one seems easier to push.

I have heard from many people that the ubv is impossible to fold, he is hardly an exception. I have the select and I am really happy with it. It definitely is much better than the ubv when using as a double.

Exactly. Just looking at this thread, you see such varying opinions on the exact same products. You have just try them out and see for yourself what you prefer.

And don't rely on watching someone else fold it easily. Try it yourself. If you can't do it in the store, you definitely can't fold it while watching 4 kids, carrying 8 shopping bags, whatsapping your cousin, and not spilling your mocachino.

I am in the midst of a claim with amex for one of my PAX bec his bugabooo broke.

next door neighbor had two bug's and hes on his third bec the break handle keeps on snapping off.

i am on a new UPV but me bec wife wanted a new color :)

you do know that you can get a replacement seat for $60 (2012 version) $99 (2013/14 version) instead of buying a new carriage if all you want is a change of color

Then they aren't doing it properly.  It's not even remotely hard when done correctly.

no other stroller has the issue all together.... and the versatility of the select as a double is a huge plus and they are virtually the same size and weight

Stroller Reviews for all the newborns!!

Oh and I forgot about how annoying it is to put the seat on. It's not impossible but for such an expensive stroller you would expect it to be smooth not have to push the sides of the stroller in to make room for the seat.

Who said you should?
(Assuming the money is not the issue)
Ha I actually don't care at all about the color  ;)
Don't listen to a person like this. We know who wears the pants in this family... :P

You must be very special. I never once heard one person complain about how hard it is to fold the UB. I have heard everyone complain though how annoying it is to fold the bug. "Its three pieces" "its hard to fold quickly" and so on...

And maybe the wife should put up or shut up. Esp if finances are an issue.

I was in a hotel over yt and someone needed my stroller for a couple hrs and she didn't stop saying how light and easy the stroll was compared to there bug.

Though I must admit when I'm in america I think I am.switching to an umbrella stroller. Much easier in and out of cars.

One store told me that with the bugaboo you need to go back into the store to change from the bassinet to the regular seat. I find it hard to beleive that I couldn't do it myself. Is this at all true?
