Why not the next 10 years worth?
He's hoping Trump will get impeached and he'll win the presidency and then he'll change the law... :)

If your assumption was correct that means I would be jealous of low/middle class also. Pretty far fetched assumption.
If only you would have a full awareness of what goes on in the welfare system across all programs, you might actually become jealous of those too.

I actually am somewhat aware, and some of those benefits can be worth well north of $50k per year, and all of those provided tax free. Which means that someone eligible for all of those would probably need a much more substantial increase in income, just to break even.

So you think I don't understand the welfare system?
You seem to have great knowledge of it. Is that because you see it abused every day first hand?

I don't think I have great knowledge of it, but I do talk to a lot of people about their finances. And when I see what someone who is eligible gets, I just do the math of how much more that person would have to earn just in order to break even.

The only abuse I see every day comes from politicians.

Do you where blinders? Many members talk about abuse in their communities all the time. I guess this doesn't happen in your community. For the record it happens in mine.

Oh. Abuse does happen. I am fully aware aware of that. I even witness it occasionally.

But the only abuse that I witness on a daily basis is by politicians.

@NYGovCuomo

"I just signed an emergency Executive Order that will allow New Yorkers to pre-pay next year’s property taxes this year, before the new tax law takes effect.

Check with your local government and school district to see if you are eligible."

Liberals: we're mad that we got a tax cut.  Let's quick change our local law so we get a bigger one

With all of the Dems complaining about the tax cuts expiring in 2027, lets see if they will get together with the Rs to make them permanent. I would imagine the Rs will go along.

Since @aygart likes to quote Sanders:  “At the end of 10 years, 83% of the the benefits go to the top 1%, 60% of the benefits go to the top one-tenth of 1%, meanwhile well over 80 million Americans will be paying more in taxes, 13 million will lose their healthcare and we will have an additional $1.4tn deficit ...”

They need to get past a Dem filibuster and do not have 60. Would the Dems let it go for a vote?

So join with the Rs to fix that!

No one will lose their healthcare-that was Obamacare. Some may, by their own choice DROP their insurance coverage.

How do they have full control if they need some Dem votes to avoid a filibuster?

They created a problem with full control. Now it is their responsibility to fix the problem they created or own it.

In today's political environment, strategic planning is necessary.

The D's wanted single payer healthcare, but knew that if they would present it that way it would never pass. So they came up with Obamacare WHICH WAS INTENTIONALLY DESIGNED TO FAIL, so that an urgent solution would need to be introduced in the form of single payer.

The R's wanted tax reform, but they knew they can't make everything permanent because the D's would never vote (or work) along. So they designed something that could pass under the current situation without 60 votes in the senate. They made the most important provisions permanent, hoping that down the road either the D's will come to their senses and help make the individual cuts permanent, or the political landscape will shift so much so it can be done without the D's.

They made the most important provisions permanent,
Most of hardworking America would disagree giving massive cuts to the rich/corporations is the most important provision.
