Most of hardworking America would disagree giving massive cuts to the rich/corporations is the most important provision.
OK. You are right. Let's move on.  ::)  ::)  ::)  ::)  ::)  ::)  ::)  ::)
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

In today's political environment, strategic planning is necessary.

The D's wanted single payer healthcare, but knew that if they would present it that way it would never pass. So they came up with Obamacare WHICH WAS INTENTIONALLY DESIGNED TO FAIL, so that an urgent solution would need to be introduced in the form of single payer.

The R's wanted tax reform, but they knew they can't make everything permanent because the D's would never vote (or work) along. So they designed something that could pass under the current situation without 60 votes in the senate. They made the most difficult provisions permanent, hoping that down the road either the D's will come to their senses and help make the individual cuts permanent since they claim to want them anyhow and are complaining that they expire, or the political landscape will shift so much so it can be done without the D's.
FTFY
Lets see if they put their vote where their mouth is. Don't expect it from any politician of any party though.

Spin it anyway you want. They could have passed a tax bill that benefited the middle class the most without this issue but chose not to. They own this problem.

Seems like Trump was truly the only hope the Rs ever had. In this environment, you can only beat populism with another brand of populism.

This has been discussed over and over again. You can choose not to accept the facts. Just like you claimed they were in full control over this bill and that they can just make them permanent on their own both of which are patently false. Now you are going for take 3, and I am the one spinning it?
Only the gullibles are afraid of facts and will not acknowledge them.

Technically that's true, but they wanted corporate tax cuts that actually help grow the economy - not just plain tax cuts for the wealthy, since corporations plan many years ahead. If they made the corporate rate cut temporary and the individual cuts permanent, the corporations would not invest in the US.
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

That's the part that rubs me the wrong way. He supposedly ran with a populist slant on the R message, which won him the rust belt, which won him the election. Is he really fulfilling that brand of populism?

I agree with this for the most part, except that they did both type of tax cuts for the wealthy.

My point was that had the corporate tax cuts only help the economy because they are permanent and allow the corporations to plan in advance, and expand in the US

Exactly. Ever since BHO came into power business avoided hiring and investing in the US due to unfriendly and uncertain business environment. Some form of certainty was needed in order to encourage business investment in the US (rather than just hoarding cash).

Time will tell.

That is ridiculous. Each part was promised in the campaign

Not ridiculous. Middle class was given a bone. The meat was given to the (extremely) wealthy people. There's no arguing with the facts or beating around the bush.

PS: Not sure what promised while campaigning has to do with anything. That's not something anybody should even pay attention to.

The middle class got a much bigger tax cut hands down. I know the democrats and the media will try to convince you otherwise.

Really?  :o The numbers don't seem to work for that position.

Anyways, the case I gave above, which is a fairly typical lower middle class family struggling in a high tax state, has gained nothing, while the tax bill is claimed to help the struggling middle class the most. Case closed. Stop ignoring the facts and calling people names. I hear the argument for cutting the corporate tax and making it permanent. But not the other giveaways in this bill. And to call this a tax bill for the middle class is baloney. They could have left some deductions alone for the middle class, increased the $10k SALT limit, and not cut the tax rates for the wealthy so much, and cut to 1% higher where it is now after the tax bill. The talk about the middle class is all false.

Why does a high tax state close the case?
