Liberals: Everyone illegal should be allowed to stay, and get govt benefits, and bring their family.  But, lock up anyone who employs them.
Independents: Lock up illegals and those that employ them!!!

Not accurate. The Feds dropped the immigration charges after he was convicted of 86 counts.
#fakenews. He was ACQUITTED of the 86 counts. He was only convicted of the federal bank fraud charges.

Do you really want to do this?

Rubashkin was convicted in November 2009 on 86 charges of financial fraud, including bank fraud, mail and wire fraud and money laundering.
Immigration trial was dismiss without prejudice.

Naturally. They need them to be reliant on government. Otherwise they lose the votes.

This is 100% accurate.
@shaulyaakov has absolutely no idea how hiring works in the real world.
If the person has valid documents, you have to hire them even if you know in your heart of hearts that they're illegal.
Otherwise you get sued for discrimination. And trust me they all find a way to get valid docs.

The counts he was convicted on were NOT the immigration charges that he was originally charged with. He WAS acquitted on those charges. He was in jail solely bc of the money and bank charges.
He was not acquitted of federal immigration charges. Please get your facts right.

And there were plenty of instances where underage employees (who had lied about their age) who were fired when proof came to light. Same thing for illegals.

This American Life just did a 2 part series on immigration and poultry plants in Alabama. It is practically impossible for these plants to not hire illegals or underage workers.

You are right he was acquitted on child labor. But even with the immigration you know that had the government had straws to grasp on he would have been charged with something. The fact that they threw it out and jailed him on something totally separate that only arose through the raid makes it look like the whole thing was just for Linda Reade to save face over a raid that she was involved in orchestrating.
Regardless 27 years was totally ridiculous. You know hat the whole thing was an egregious miscarriage of justice.

They dropped the immigration charges.
Which means either the court system doesn't believe in justice or they didn't believe he was guilty of those charges.
Given their desire to throw the book at him I'd have to assume the latter.

He was already found guilty of 86 counts. There was no reason to go forward with the immigration charges that would not result in more time. This is done all the time. That does not mean he was exonerated of the charges. Now if they dismissed with prejudice then you would be correct.

@ChaimMoskowitz many members here have spent hours upon hours studying this case.

How many minutes have you looked into it that you feel you're qualified to comment on it?

Study the case, and maybe you'll agree with a bunch of former AGs, and Nancy Pelocy, and Orin Hatch etc.

I am just looking at the facts. I am not passing judgement on the individual. Members are saying things that are factually wrong.

I enjoyed reading this thread. I watched the videos of all the celebrating. It is unbelievable the love shown for this individual.

Not only that. You sound extremely cynical. Why is it that every conversation that you are involved in here, its always about creating an elephant? Always have to be that guy who is the goody-goody, the guy to show everyone else. The fact that some small details are inaccurate is irrelevant here. The point is the same and you know the point. Stop trying to always find the bad in everything. Writing "celebrate his release but he is still a bad guy" (to paraphrase) is totally unnecessary  I don't normally comment in these discussions but sometimes when I see what you write it just makes me upset.
Has Trump turned you into a bitter old man?
