Once meds have been started, yes. My wife has been doing throat cultures for 25 years. We have rapid strep tests at home that she does for her office on off hours. Do several a week.
Rapid strep tests are not throat culture test. Are you getting the terms mixed up?

They are 99.9% accurate. You will not get growth on a culture plate either if there are meds in the system.

Did I tell him what to take?

For those looking for the PC here you go...

Suggestion, if no one is talking to you, MYOB. I believe I know the legal ramifications too. Something in my past tells me I know what I could and cant tell him.

All of a sudden everyone is giving legal advice. You know practicing law without a license is a misdemeanor.
Lol

That's not correct. Kids had strep and they had to switch antibiotics because they were not working. They knew that by a positive throat culture.

Would have to check with DW but IIRC it was around 5 days.

5 days after meds stopped? Makes sense it will show up positive then.

Either way Amoxil is the equivalent of p**swater in dealing with strep. There are stronger alternatives.

What meds?
Not sure if it was amoxicillin or some other cillin. Several years ago. The point was that a throat culture is accurate and rapid strep test can give a false negative.

One of my kids was so stubborn when she was younger, that it was impossible to administer any medication to her orally. Whenever she needed antibiotics, we opted for a shot administered by the doctor. Was a pleasure, only one dose (or sometimes two IIRC) and that was it!

At the time I asked the Dr. why they don't offer it to more people, as it is so much easier and more effective, and was told that most people would rather take an oral medication regimen for 10 days than needle into them one time.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

My kid won't take antibiotics. It's a nightmare each time. We've been begging for the shot, but they haven't been willing to give it.

Switch MD's, also might belong in pros and cons of where you live.

Next time you’re there, get straight to the “point”. Just tell them to “give it a shot”. It can’t hurt(or maybe it can)...  ;D

It's Patient Choice unless the MD deems is unsafe so technically he has to give it to you...
I will not respond to PM about the UPS method.
