There's conflicting studies regarding rheumatic fever as a result of neglected strep, some say that the risk of antibiotic resistance is greater

Silly. Iíve had 3 positive throat cultures not once w fever. Once w 95.5
Why's it silly? There's a major issue with antibiotic resistance, and it keeps getting worse. If someone will get better either way, it's much better not to use antibiotics.
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

Thereís also a serious issue w a bacterial infection that spreads. Donít give it for everything, but making a blanket rule of not prescribing unless someone has a fever is silly.

They don't prescribe for strep without fever, I'm not sure why it's different than what you're saying.

If someone has strep, why are you sure they will l get better without antibiotics?

If they don't, they'll get fever and then get antibiotics. It's a bad policy to give it to everyone for the 1/100 who need it, especially when there's a major issue of resistance.

Not everyone w strep, or any bacterial infection that spreads gets fever. Just because someone has fever doesnít mean the infection is worse than someone without fever

Well @aygart is present, so you might as well. (though that would instantly deprecate this thread to JS).
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

No, they feed them random chemical and biological substances, which have clear dangerous side effects, and occasionally work, but frequently don't, and are sold by huge corporate conglomerates who have insiders in the FDA and who got a tax break last week.
Too late for that. 👆

They are 99.9% accurate. You will not get growth on a culture plate either if there are meds in the system.
Rapid strep tests are not 99.9% accurate, they're closer to 75% accurate.
