Despite Nick's ridiculously negative review of the PHT, Lucky had a very positive review 3 years ago: http://onemileatatime.boardingarea.com/2012/01/26/chasing-the-a380-park-hyatt-tokyo/
I read both reviews (Lucky's a while ago and Nick's just now). I hear Nick's points: The soft product is
AMAZING while the hard product is quite outdated. Obviously I don't care about the restaurants or food, but I do like a nice, new, modern hotel room. I know Lucky liked it, but the Andaz wasn't even an option at that time. It could also be that over the last 3 years (since Lucky was there) the hotel has become noticeably more outdated. While neither of them said the hotel looked worn, Nick just said that the features looked outdated.
I'm still not sure what to make of the locations. While the PH seems to be more centrally located, as compared to the Andaz, it seems that the Andaz is closer to things I'd want to do on my 1 day there, and next to the metro for all other activities.
Based purely on the pictures (and not the actual reviews), the Andaz
looks nicer to me.
You don't think the Andaz looks physically nicer?
Do you prefer the over-the-top soft product to a newer/more modern hard product?
I know Nick painted the PH in a negative light, but even so, you don't think the Andaz is nicer?
