I went to the one with Chana's Place a FULL meal is around 3000JPY which is less then 30 bucks in Takanawa. I used the trains to get around as well as the occasional taxis.
Same place.

The trains/subways are very easy to use, are clean and orderly as well.

I have like 8 Pomegranate meals i am gonna try and bring in. Will split it up in my suitcases and see what happens.
What happened to the Pomegranate meals? Did they let them in? Did they ask about them at customs? Is it legal?

They made it in just fine. Went in unnoticed.

This question would be better if asked to a "mumche", your average LOR would probably get all nervous straight away and just say it's all asur....

I hate to say but my LOR will have no idea about the differences between different religions and therefore the A"Z implications. Since many/most of them have no interest in outside cultures it doesn't cost them anything to say that it's ossur.

Didn't visit temples.

I was a day behind for sefira until I crossed back over the dateline.  You miss a day of shacharis flying there and you daven shacharis with tefilin twice on the day coming back.

Did shabbos on local Saturday per chabad custom.

Can be a waste of a day. Takes forever to get there from Tokyo, and you don't get that close, see much or spend much time there.

Thank to you I didnt waste my day there for that. The friend I was with said that we must see it but after reading your TR I told him its a waste, so we did a day tour in Tokyo, and got to see all the main sites which was a lot better.

Any suggestions about the rail passes? It seems that are several rail companies each with their own multi-day passes and each valid for certain regions? Very confusing. ::) Is there a group/family discount? I can't find any. I wish I could just rent a car like on a European trip. However, I don't think that is an option in this case. So far it looks like that we will be in the Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto triangle.

I purchased an unlimited Youth 5 day pass for about $100 (they stamp it every day that you use it, so it does not have to be 5 consecutive days)
It's not limited by Age btw, its just called a Youth pass because of the end of school season.

Did that work for all the different lines?
