Were you there for Shabbos?  How many days were you in Kyoto total? and is there what to do there if we are keeping 2 days shabbos? Nice areas to walk around without having to pay to get into anything?  Also, reading the reviews of the westin seems as though a little dated and not kept up, what was your impression though if from 2015 I would have to keep that in mind? Thanks for responding and any future tips would be greatly appreciated.

It was fine for us in 2015.

We just stayed in the hotel for 48 hrs. Our rooms were right next to the club lounge which helped

Planning on going to Japan early March. Getting in Wednesday afternoon and leaving next Thursday afternoon.  I have a few questions if anyone can please help with.
1.  We are not doing melacha on Sunday, where would be better to stay for shabbos? Prefer beauty and nature to city but is kobe like that or just another city? Which place would have things to see on our Sunday shabbos

2. Happens to be the Westin in Kyoto is right near chabad did anyone stay there for shabbos?
3.  I think it was mentioned the Sheraton in Tokyo was near chabad but looks like an hour walk to me. Which Sheraton and how far of a walk?
4.  If I did stay in kobe looks like Sheraton is 2 hour walk. Any suggestions to hotels both with points and not where to stay?
5.  We are a couple going don't mind running around to see as much as possible but not crazy like seeing the world in 10 days.  We like nature, would like to get feel of Tokyo but don't need days there not going into any temples, any suggestions for an itenerary? We are flying in and out of nrt should we take plane or trains to other places?
6. Anyone stay in ritz Tokyo is it nice?
Thanks
Sheraton to Chabad in Tokyo (google Maps Chana's Place) is a 10 minute walk and there are things to walk to, but I'd invest some time to plan your walking tours. If you manage to catch blossoms, it will be great.

There is stuff near the shul in Kobe, but two days w/o melachos could be a long time for Kobe. There is a great hike to nunobiki falls (right behind Shin-Kobe station) and the neighborhood near the shul is cute.

Kyoto is an offshoot of the Chabad not listed on Chabad's website. My understanding is it is very small and unlikely to have a minyan unless there is a tour group. Best bets for minyan are Tokyo and Kobe.

Thanks for responding. If I was going to stay in Tokyo for shabbos think I would stay at the prince Sakura as only a drop further and better reviews. Did anyone stay there for shabbos any issues and can you get rooms on lower floors? As far as walking places on shabbos any suggestions?

Looks twice as far, no?
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

20 minutes as oppose to 10 but that is ok as long as we can stay on a lower floor and the first floor doesn't start 10 flights up and no other Shabbos issues.
So if anyone stayed there and can chime in that would be great.
And also if anyone has any suggestions of what we can do for two days without doing any melacha in Tokyo, any specific things we can walk to up to about an hour away but doesn't require admission to get in.
Thanks.

Sakura is significantly farther (near Shinagawa station), and supposedly significantly nicer.

Happo-en is a nice garden walk on Shabbos and right near the Sheraton. You can also walk towards Ebisu or Shinagawa areas.

It's double, that's probably about right.

If I were to Land in HND from a JAL flight 4:30 PM and takeoff on an NH flight at 10:15 PM does that make any sense to be able to do some things or better figure something else out?

5h45m is too short a layover. By the time you clear customs and reach the city, it will be time to turn back around.

Got it, ty.
So what's a good layover time frame?

It depends on what you want to do.

5:45 is plenty of time to land at Haneda, clear customs go to downtown Yokohama or Tokyo and have a really nice dinner then go back to the airport. I'd factor an hour and a half for the time it takes from touchdown to downtown at HND and even less if you splurge for a cab.

If your goal is to actually tour around Tokyo, I'd give yourself at least 12 hours and figure out a few good ideas.
