Having an issue with my BA reservation cancellation. Was rebooked by BA because AA cancelled flight. So now when trying to cancel the new reservation the CC I used is not working for the cancellation. Thinking it has to be because of the rebooking done automatically by BA.

New flight is 10 minutes later. Waiting on hold for BA...Flights tomorrow AM hope they will still allow me to cancel with no fee.

After an hour no one can do it because executive club closed. Need to call back when there open which is 5AM ridiculous...

Thank you. I somehow got through to someone took about 2 hours and managed to cancel. Still waiting for the refund to appear.

When canceling an award ticket, what does "online you can cancel an award for just the lower of $55 or the taxes paid" mean?
If I cancel online as long as it's more than 24 hrs before the flight I only lose the cost of the taxes?

yes. Up to $55 max.

Up to $55 per ticket, as opposed to total for everyone traveling on the reservation. Correct?

Bummer. It's for a flight from YYZ to NYC. Taxes are around $51 per ticket.

I booked a ticket for within 24 hours. Half an hour later i needed to cancel. Called in and got back the points and the taxes, but he needed to first get authorization. Not saying it will always work, but it can work. YMMV.

if you booked the ticket less than 24 hours ago, you'll need to call to cancel.

I've had this numerous times it's just a system glitch I think-you need to call.

probably. I don't see why cancelling an international flight is different than cancelling domestic.

I made the mistake of booking a round-trip as opposed to two one-ways, I took the first leg but had to cancel the return leg. I called BA and was told that there were no refunds if I took the first leg, I chose to cancel anyways as it was still more than 24 hours. Is there any way I can get the Avios points and/or taxes back or am I SOL?

Maybe if you find a sympathetic rep but you would have had a better chance if you hadn't cancelled yet.

Is there any one number, that's better to call, to rebook a Avios ticket within 24 hrs of the flight ?
