The fee to cancel or change a BA Avios ticket is $55 online or $80 over the phone. However online you can cancel an award for just the lower of $55 or the taxes paid. For a domestic ticket that means a cancellation fee of just $5.60 (nonstop one-way), $11.20 (connecting one-way or nonstop round-trip), or $10 (connecting round-trip). Thatís another reason I like one-ways, I can cancel and rebook the return flight for just $5.60 and I wonít lose my outbound flight. Thatís a $50 savings. Flight cancellations must be done more than 24 hours before the time of departure or else you will not get your Avios back.
After cancelling a flight just logout of your BA account, and then log back in and the points should be back in your account.
Note that you have to call to cancel a flight within 24 hours of when you booked it.  There is no fee for award cancellations done over the phone if they were booked within the past 24 hours.
When cancelling on line be sure to click through to the last page 'confirm cancellation' and then get 'Your booking has been cancelled'.
Officially you can't cancel within T-24 but I was able to on my third HUCA.
Within T-4 they are a lot stricter.

I've had the same issue. Go into your account and update it with your d.o.b. And passport number (a few other personal details as well) then try again it should work.
Ok, did that. Hope it works.

Haven't been able to cancel online in a month.   Tried adding/changing personal info, but no luck.  Anyone else having this issue or find a way around it?

Is there a workaround to providing CC info when cancelling online? Booking was almost a yr ago, no way to recall which cc was used for the taxes.

When booking a cash+points BA reservation (e.g. 20K avios+$70 etc.)
when canceling, you forfeit the taxes (e.g. $5.6) and get the miles redeposited (20K)
what happens to the cash purchase ($70)? refunded? forfeited? (forfeit up to $55 change fee, get rest refunded?)

I booked 2 BA tickets, cancelled both online within 24 hours of flight. One of the bookings was within 24 hours of booking, any chance to get the miles back?

No chance. But if you call to cancel and have a good reason, they can refund the miles.

I was refunded the points for one of the flights automatically, and refunded taxes for both flights, also without calling. Should I call for the points of the 2nd flight?

Flight tomorrow MIA - NYC J class on AA. Need to switch to Sunday. What's my best bet, cancel or change? Wiki says no cancellation within 24 hrs of flight. Are they strict with that? What about changes?

Update: Rep said none can be done within 24 hrs of flight. I asked for an exception and she agreed to change for $80 each passenger (x3 pax). I needed to split the PNR to have them rebooked on 2 separate flights. It got too complicated for her so she made a "one-time exception" to refund the Avios for just the $5.60 taxes so I can rebook them myself.  :D
