Do you usually wake up early to eat before the fast begins?

Reminder: In order to eat, one has to make a tenai before going to sleep the night prior.

It all depends on what time I go to sleep the night before the fast meaning if I go to sleep on time then I'll set an alarm to wake up before the fast but if I go to sleep 3 or 4 hours before the fast then...

there should be a pole or added in the title what do you eat before the fast when you wake up?

Somewhat OT: I've done water fasts for health reasons (longest stretch was 70hrs) and done some research on the topic.

What causes a lot of the discomfort is potassium loss- so I suggest supplementing the following prior to fasting
1 teaspoon potassium citrate (must be citrate)
1/4 teaspoon salt

This won't help much with thirst but it might save you a headache.

Just curious is this a normal thing every home should have inside?

Water fast meaning you live on just water? In what way does that benefit one's health? (I'm not looking to get personal.) Also, doesn't that make have to use the restroom every few minutes?

Depends what kind of diet you're on.

You probably get enough potassium citrate from the food you eat...

Yes to Q1.

Q2: extended fasting starts a bodily process called autophagy, where the body destroys it's own damaged and sick tissue. It might be able to help reset gene expression.

Disclaimer: don't try it without medical supervision or doing the necessary research and as within halacha stop fasting if you feel really unwell...

Q3: Sodium on it's own would do that. But not in this ratio with the potassium.

But your option doesn't apply to me. I drink 3 coffees before going to sleep.
