In general the more to the right you go the less chance that a family owns a pet.

Most people wouldn't have their kids kicked out of school for it but they may get some funny looks.

There is no real reason in my opinion.

I was just discussing this topic with a real Chassidish friend of mine who would never drive - because of family, schools etc. She told me that if not for those issues she does not see the problem with it. Again, she is very Chassidish.

At this point, it is a tough rule to undo. If people were denied this prospect until now, how can they suddenly allow it? The schools are the ones putting the most pressure on families. If you are moving out of town and looking to get into a new school, your children will not be accepted if you drive.

To summarize all the new popcorn threads there's 1 underlying factor.

There is a split in how everyone perceives things.

Side 1- yiddishkeit has changed. The internal flame that our parents and grandparents had simply isn't there. ( No disagreement here. How many of us would live through 6 years of Hell and still stay frum? )

They therefore believe that we need to shield ourselves from the outside world. Less change. More restrictions. Try to do everything so that we don't lose our sensitivities. ( Even if many are failing the system, at least the ones that stay reflect the way a Jew should be to the best of their ability in 2018 )

Side 2 - we are in a different world and things will only get worse, unless we adapt. Many of the old school systems are falling way too many of our kids..

Most yeshivish would frown upon women bike riding or roller blading on the streets. Perhaps in a park or a dedicated area would be better.

My cousin is a 5th grade Rebbe in a boys  Yeshiva and was told he had to stop riding his bike to school.

In KJ for example bikes are not allowed and everyone kids to adults use taxi's very often. In Willamsburg Satmar doesn't allow bikes. In Monsey bike are allowed and we go round and round in circles

This is about men but he was known to physically lie down in the street if he saw a women driving in ofakim... I believe he held it was a tznius issue, and possibly lo silbash (!?) If someone has a nefesh chaya I'm sure it's in there.
