Try to find someone that's flying J that's not taking a second suitcase and ask him to check it in for you.

They wouldn't be "taking your suitcase" just checking it in. But anyways there's nothing to lose, maybe you'll meet someone that you know etc...

I wont ask my teenage daughter to try to ask someone else to check her bag.

The bigger issue is that they are charging more than $100 since the 388NIS charge is 112.74 USD.

I saw the charge on my card and am on the phone with Delta right now.

Booked the tix in May so the special credit card wont help.

Actually was on the phone with Delta for 45 minutes yesterday arguing that they charged more than the 100 for the bag since the 388 shekel is 112.74. Was getting nowhere as the rep on the phone kept telling me that the 388 shekel charge was equal to 100. I did not want to make my kid deal with this in Israel so just gave up on the call, but will try again tomorrow after her flight lands in the US.

Has anyone else had the problem that the 100 charge is computed by foreign currency?

Perhaps you can dispute the extra $12.74.  Sounds like forced usage of DCC to me...

I'm just looking to see how pervasive this and whether it was a glitch or if this something that happens regularly.
