they are for select short haul flights, for example LAX-SFO i believe the market value for the 5k flights is about $70-$80 each way

Two free trips? You're assuming you'll find lowest-level availability.

I mean, why apply for the Delta over an MR or SPG card for example? Maybe one of the latter cards is going to end up being more valuable to you.

I just mean that I often sign up for cards without knowing what Im going to do with the miles.
