thats what happened to me with chase i applied for two cards got two pulls on TU

I froze and still got one pull on Chase for two applications. YMMV.

YMMV with multiple-browser method, YMMV +++ with freezing stacked with multiple-browser method.

Ha, silly wabbit, trix are for kids!

No no, I am doing those 2 AMEX, and then I am also going to do the two Citi AA for 75k (one visa with 1k spend, one amex with 4k spend).

Then when that's done, I'll freeze the E's and do the Chase's. Make sense to you?

Applied for all four. Amex Plat, Amex Gold Bus, Citi Visa, Citi Amex.

Instantly approved for all 4.

Nicely done, but I meant you should've tried for 3 from each.

Right. I thought about doing that, but then I realized I need to be realistic about the spend requirements...

Guys -- need a little advice.

Froze both E's and applied for Chase Hyatt and Chase Southwest.

Just called reconsideration for the Hyatt and after haggling was told that the decision is being reversed from denial to "pending."

The agent said I would hear a response within 2 weeks.

Thoughts? Plan of action??

Call back in a couple of days, especially if you didn't make a Hyatt account beforehand.

Interesting thread.

I learned two things:

1) I should be much more aggressive with my apps (I have a really old card, a card about 2 years old, and about 4 cards avg. age 5 months) - I could probably pull off an app-o-rama myself.

2) I need to research this whole freezing thing better. I live in NY too and was about to apply for Chase cards w/o even considering a freeze. I don't quite get it yet but will read up....

p.s. [unless someone wants to spoon feed me a little ;) ... not following exact point - does chase pull from all 3 and the freeze diverts to just TU?]

No. Chase ordinarily pulls only from Experian (at least when you live in NY). Freezing the E's allows you to divert them to TU, where (presumably) you have less inquiries.

I am rather confused with the Freezing concept.  Is it something you chose to do?  Is it something that is done to you?  Is it good to do/get?  If it's done to you, how does it occur?  How can it be undone?

You do it to yourself. Purpose: to force an issuer to pull from a certain bureau where there are less inquiries.

Oh okay.  Now is it a negative thing in terms of credit etc.?  Or is there a time limit on how long it can be frozen?  And how do you go about freezing a credit company?

Anyone know? AsherO? Dan?

Would I be able to call reconsideration a second time to have them review the same card I already called about?

I live in CA, and Chase pulls from EXP, but I froze my EXP and EQ and did a 2BM, and they pulled my TU a couple days later, so freezing does work.

You can definitely try. Calling multiple times has worked for me in the past, it also helps to have your talking-points lined up. YMMV.
