I know a frum pilot that was supposed to fly into the twin towers and didn’t take that flight because...
He tries to be home for shabbos (doing round trips during the week)

What’s your question, what kind of information are you looking for?

There aren't that many. It's a difficult ( but not impossible) field for frum person to break into. Shabbos, YT, etc. Many other difficult careers you can leave right before shabbos (not that i recommend it) as pilot it takes considerably more planning to avoid. Also, there are other concerns

1) I would say it's pretty hard to raise a family when your away so often.

2) the fact that your not living in specific location and community has its set of issue for a frum person.

I'm not familiar with the amount of trips commercial pilots fly domestically or internationally.

I know a frum pilot. It was extremely hard in the beginning since new pilots are give only weekend and holiday flights. He had to work air traffic control for years before being able to create his own schedule.

What does ATC have to do with a commercial pilot carrier?

I think there is also a legitimate concern of yichud if you are assigned a female colleague in the cockpit.

I know two frum pilots one has seniority as a captain with DL flying 717's and he is able to work around Shabos and Yom Tov easily because of his seniority , the other one is in his very early 20's went through the crown heightes Lubavitch system, just starting out  with Endevour flying DL CRJ's.

Right now is a very good time to become a commercial pilot, as there is allot of hirings and not many pilots want to fly on xmas, new years and sundays, etc

It is not an easy or a stable career, lots of problems down the road once you are married or have a family. I was an airline pilot for 2 major US airlines that do not exist today , right now the airlines are doing good , when the economy goes bad, they start laying off pilots left and right, and they go out of business , remember Braniff, Eastern, Pan Am , TWA and I can name another 20 or 30 easily.
Plus if you develop any medical issues your career is over . Also flying for commuter airlines pays very little, just like working at a minimum pay job, and very few from there make it to the majors. The majors prefer to hire pilots from the air force, navy etc , not pilots flying Cessna 172.
I was the Best, still the Best, and will always be the Best.
Pele Good,Maradona Better, George Best.

I know one in London who is now a pilot for BA. Used to work for Virgin, but moved accross a number of years ago. He was actually a madrich of mine in Bnei Akiva a number of years ago, now Shomrei Shabbat in London.
Enjoys doing Tel Aviv route as  can see friends and family in Israel. I was on one of his flights and the pax were very surprised to have pilot's welcome in Hebrew!
