Does anyone know what kind of cellphone coverage they had in Canada? Were they able to charge their phones the entire time? What did the plane run on the whole time?

The plane has a generator that runs on jet fuel called an APU.  I imagine they ran in generously.

They had more than enough fuel too, I'd imagine, as they were ha just getting started on a long flight.

They didn't need to dump any fuel?

Hmm good point. If they were anticipating a less than smooth landing, they might've. Interesting. Did they refuel at all in Goose Bay, prior to de-planing?

If I understand correctly, a skilled pilot can safely land a heavy plane in the right conditions.  I believe fuel dumping is a decision taken by the pilot in consultation with airline flight operations

Furthermore, service experience indicates that damage due to overweight landing is extremely rare.

Yup. Confirmed with the head of elal Customer Relations. No mandatory compensation. She claims they took off on time and it's major force etc.

What are the out of pocket expenses in this case? Like hotel rooms you couldn't use?

Is there a "DoT" in Israel to escalate it to? Or is that it unless you want to sue?
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Correct - and I told my clients to send in there roaming charges for all calls while in Goose Bay

Don't know - but I know tried for a client to complain to the FOCA regarding a case against Swiss, and first of all they can't make an airline pay, plus they never send me the details of their findings - kept on saying blah blah

Quote
FOCA ensures the general compliance with this Regulation. Within an administrative offense against air carriers it could impose fines in case of proven infringements of this Regulation. The aim is to prevent infringements in the future.
Your individual claims are independent of that, e.g. the payment of compensation. FOCA is neither authorized to support you to enforce these claims according to the Regulation against the air carrier nor to give you legal advice in this respect. Individual claims have to be compensated within the scope of a legal relationship between passenger and air carrier, if necessary, by complaint proceedings and summary proceedings for order to pay debts in court.

Here's what's bothering me. Why didn't Elal send in a maintenance crew from JFK as soon as the flight landed in Goose Bay?

Using what aircraft?
JetSuite, NetJets, or anything else?

Though maintenance might not have been the only issue. By that time they might have needed to get a flight crew that would be ready to take off as soon as it's repaired, that might have been harder.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!
