What do you mean? The air is carrying the sound and the plane at the same "initial" speed so it cancels off (to put it in simple terms).

Can someone explain why LY8 from JFK hasn't been cancelled? Do they expect to have the flight from Goose Bay back in JFK in time for the flight tonight?
In the meantime, LY 1 from TLV tonight (12:45am) has been delayed to 7:15am as it awaits for this aircraft to arrive.

Why should a diversion be any different than a regular mechanical failure? As long as they arrive at their destination 8 hrs after the scheduled arrival time.

Today he's not an MK he's a (סגן שר) Vice Minister and he's really well off too and El Al economy is enough for him.

I was on a packed DL 767-300 from AMS-JFK we were cruising at 680 MPH (maybe even more, have to check my pictures again) for most of the flight.

Someone pointed out to me that they are likely flying mechanics in from JFK (on this 1008) and are hoping to fix it and fly back to JFK to do the flight tonight. Would be shocking if they can be ready to depart JFK at 11:50pm, though. But it's not officially delayed yet.
