Does anyone know what kind of cellphone coverage they had in Canada? Were they able to charge their phones the entire time? What did the plane run on the whole time?

The plane has a generator that runs on jet fuel called an APU.  I imagine they ran in generously.

They were able to charge their phones and people kept on getting msgs so I guess there was service. Dont know about roaming charges...

Hmm good point. If they were anticipating a less than smooth landing, they might've. Interesting. Did they refuel at all in Goose Bay, prior to de-planing?

If I understand correctly, a skilled pilot can safely land a heavy plane in the right conditions.  I believe fuel dumping is a decision taken by the pilot in consultation with airline flight operations

Yup. Confirmed with the head of elal Customer Relations. No mandatory compensation. She claims they took off on time and it's major force etc.

Correct - and I told my clients to send in there roaming charges for all calls while in Goose Bay

Don't know - but I know tried for a client to complain to the FOCA regarding a case against Swiss, and first of all they can't make an airline pay, plus they never send me the details of their findings - kept on saying blah blah

JetSuite, NetJets, or anything else?

Though maintenance might not have been the only issue. By that time they might have needed to get a flight crew that would be ready to take off as soon as it's repaired, that might have been harder.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

With the right connections you could have a jet rolling in 2 hours to Canada. And its not so hard to have connections...
