Why are cops more special when it comes to assault? Why the enhanced punishment? Thats BS. They assault at will with few to no consequences.

Because they protect those that can't no matter how much you hate them. As the president would put it. If I had to deal with shitholes daily it would take a toll on me.

Police offficer or not does not justify 25 years and 8 1/2 - 25 is the upper end of the range usually reserved for those who lose at trial.

Oh and I did my share of criminal law plus learning a whole lot because of my case.

You can whine that it isn't fair all you want, but the fact remains that the statute makes assaulting a police officer worse than if he had assaulted, say, you.  Take it up with your congressperson.

Quote
A person is guilty of aggravated assault upon a police officer or a peace officer when, with intent to cause serious physical injury to a person whom he knows or reasonably should know to be a police officer or a peace officer engaged in the course of performing his official duties, he causes such injury by means of a deadly weapon or dangerous instrument.

Assembly member or state senator but whatever.

Its not about whining.

Question: Why did the cop step in front of the car? He already suspected he was dealing with a crazy person.

So now it's the cop's fault for stepping in front of the car? Come on, man.  That question doesn't even deserve a response.

...but I will answer it. He didn't think someone would be stupid enough to run over a police officer.

They were running ? Looked more like a stroll to me. Why didn’t any of them jump into one of the thousand patrol cars sitting parked there ?

So what do you feel would be reasonable here?

Had the same question. Wasn't sure if it was on foot or by bike.

Was thinking that - Neistat style. Too smooth to be a bike.
