Yes, but does not always work. Make sure you are prepared to have only one go through just in case.

I have tried it numerous times and it never worked.
Im curious if only 1 award ticket is available and I book it thru 2 different partner airlines at the same time.

I didn't say 2BM would work. I just fine tuned the analogy.

You can go one day and there's only one seat at the lowest fare and you book the second seat paying a little more, only to see the next morning that there's again one seat available at the lowest fare. It's not like there were no seats available, but none allocated to the special price (using the milk analogy) that can change by the manager, without having to get any additional inventory delivered.

I've been successful selling in a seat when inventory only showed available 1 by hitting enter at the same time with 2 different Amadeus offices. Won't work with airlines who use Amadeus. But it sometimes definitely works with other airlines.

And clearly almost impossible when purchasing online thru OTA

Of course not always. But i've grabbed 2 P classes with UA using the above method many times at the time where it was P1.   And whenever I received HK in 1A the airlines responded HK as well.
