I understand it’s a YI type community. I have no issue with that, I’m looking to be a bit of a pioneer and have a few friends (from frummer backgrounds) that would join me in moving there. Are you familiar with Oceanside?

I'm not so familiar but I do know a bit about it. First of all, you're not the first person with this idea, I've heard of several groups with similiar plans to move into oceanside.
From what I can gather it is a very friendly and welcoming  community.
Housing pricing is reasonable. Pm me for more info.
If you're intrested in being a "bit of a pioneer" why not come out here to east meadow?

Youre not a pioneer moving to Oceanside where there's been a community with an eruv and a Mikva for over 30 years. (East meadow on the other hand...)

There's plenty of people from frummy backgrounds who live in Oceanside today.

There are a lot of small communities in the island. I would say Oceanside is more midsized.

That reminds me of all the Brooklyn people who "started a community" in North Woodmere

Call Rabbi Gurkov from Chabad of Oceanside. He knows all there is to know about all facets of the Jewish community there.

You sound like you resent them moving. The word Frummy has such a negative connotation.

And people wonder why Mashiach doesnt come... I am not saint but is it so terrible that other Frum Jews moved to your community? Increased the values of your home? Built more Shuls? Increased friends for your children? Are hopefully working towards a Mikvah in the community? A Simcha Hall?  I am so sorry that you had to deal with all those awful Brooklyn people...

What does that do for him if he didn't want to leave?
(Not that I'm justifying his comment)

I have been there multiple times for Shabbos (North Woodmere). There are a lot of different types but everyone seems to get along really well. I spent time in the YI and a more blackhat shul and saw a mix of people in both.

Those other frum Jews made talking in the shul that they built almost an entrance fee, but given that 90% first show up at least an hour after the official start time we have a pleasant start until things get wild.

Kids friends remains to be seen, if the father is any indication of the child I'm not so sure I want my kids to be their friends, not in a mean way as you are assuming but if someone can regularly, consistently, and completely unashamedly show up to shul one hour late for shacharis and 30 minutes late for kabbolas Shabbos and spend the time that he is there shmoozing in the back or the basement with free flowing alcohol, sadly I wouldn't want that influence on my family.

The mikvah has been on the table for years...so far it's still just on the table even after a dozen or so meetings with guys who said "leave it to me". Yes, they get an A for effort but I don't think "they" made much of a difference.

If the cost of a simcha hall is losing kedushas beis knesses/medrash and a general lack of eidelkeit then thanks but no thanks.

Where do you draw the line? Nothing and no one is perfect and yes we have to be loving and compassionate to all our brothers and sisters but it's very hard to do that when you know that they know better and there really isn't a valid excuse. They didn't grow up in yehupitz with a "limited" (for lack of a better word) Jewish education they grew up in... Brooklyn.
