maybe they figure people will be transferring anyway.
+1

UA might not like that
UA would love it.  It's Chase that has UA by the beitzim that would not.

The Gov't taxes the sale of miles at the federal level.  Think of it like a federal sales tax, common in most countries except the US.
The credit card company can eat or pass on the tax that they pay to buy miles.  Chase and SPG eat it, AMEX passes a max $99 of it on to the consumer.

From here it seems like it may go away again Sept 16.
If it happens, a good a time as ever to transfer CO from Amex with no fee...

Why may it become "no tax" on Sept. 16th??

You are probably on a phone (I would guess). There is a link in aussibochurs post explaining

"Without a vote, the Federal Aviation Administration would face a second partial shutdown in two months."

Oh, I was about to do an Amex to CO xfers, I'm glad I came across this thread. However, now I'm wondering if I should wait till tomorrow? I have booked (the plan b) by CO but didn't ticket it yet, it's due to expire Saturday at midnight. If this measure fails tomorrow, when will we - THE PEOPLE- start to benefit from this...?

(Oh Lord, bless the Oklahoma people for electing Tom Coburn...)  ;)
