My friend just called up to try and downgrade his gold card to a fee free card and was told that they cant convert from charge card to credit card. The csr then told him that if he upgrades to a platinum (with no credit pull) he'll get a 50k signup bonus.
Firstly can he rely on csr, from what I've seen on this site most people are saying that they won't give you the bonus unless you apply for a new account. This rep apparently wasn't too knowledgeable because he told my friend that the cheapest charge card was the green but I see online that the zync has a lower annual fee.
Also, if he can is there any reason for him not to take the offer and then just cancel the plat in a month instead of just cancelling the gold now?
