to me this seems like going to a baseball game and if the row in front of you is empty you sit there till someone comes
A couple of differences, it's more like taking up the seat in front of you + the seat you bought at the same time. Also a game can start even if some fans don't have a seat.

For all those that think it is OK to take an empty seat you didn't pay for. Does that apply to E+ and F? If not why not?
I just found a new supply of forks!

No, we always take aisle/middle or aisle/aisle. I get pre-board with medical condition.  :)
I take that too, but I can't say I haven't been tempted to sit aisle window and hope no one joins us. Pregnancy and little kids helps as well. :P

There is nothing wrong with that. Half the plane is that way during boarding.

...I always "take up space" professionally with my kid on WN flights, in hopes I will not be sat next to, but if someone has no other choice, I let them in...
Reminds me of the MTA express buses.

It helps to be an oversized passenger on WN.  Nobody wants to sit next to the fat guy.  Add a little strategic coughing and I almost always have a seat empty next to me, even in the emergency exit row.

No excuses for not giving up child seat when boarding is finished and people are still standing.

If you'd been reading before the FBI texts were deleted, you'd see the real story.

Obvious trolls are obvious. Duplicate account banned.
But his fake news was compelling. And very plausible. He should be a writer.

Southwest does not overbook as part of the selling process (Effective May 8, 2017). While we no longer “overbook” flights, there will be operational instances where we will be over available seating capacity resulting in an oversale. Operational instances that may create an oversale include weight restrictions and aircraft type changes.

I thought southwest all flies the same type of plane....

Can we get a recap?

Basically, the passengers without seats were FAs who were deadheading, so nobody realized they were looking for seats, even after pilot announced.

Obvious troll, but doesn't mean it's not what happened.

They fly the 737 which has 143 seats and the 738 which has 175.
