I had the exact opposite experience, trying to get there before Shkia. It was so appalling that another passenger seated next to me felt the need to scold the FA for their attitude towards me.
That must have known your thoughts about LY

It was that experience that formulated them.

Not being much of a traveler, and having some knowledge of how to use mileage programs, I think the last time I flew LY prior to that experience was more than 15 years earlier. It was mostly PanAm (later DL) and BA in the interim.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

SDC is always a reval not a reissue.
You can say what you think when you think what you say.

Shine is an understatement.

But this wasn’t a case of IRROPS

He was likely correct in his statement that you're better off booking direct with the airline than a OTA that you won't be able to easily get ahold of for customer service. There is often little to gain over booking direct with the airline, and only what to lose. If you want any semblance of customer service, a TA that you can personally connect to is better than a generic OTA or booking direct, usually.
Who do you think you are fooling? You think you are going to pull a quick one on your Creator? Good luck with that.
