If we're going to analyze his previous programs, how many of them had issues, cancellations, change hotels last minute, screwed vendors and lawsuits? I don't think his track record is in his favor...

I'm trying to find the 1% chance that this is all going to clear up and everyone made whole, but his track record doesn't make me very optimistic...

As people were saying upthread to be Dan l'kaf zchus, he probably wanted to run a legit program. He didnt sell out enough rooms to cover his overhead. He was probably hoping more people would book last minute and he would be able to pay the hotel.
This still doesn't excuse his blaming it on the  phishing scam and not taking responsibility.

So why did he make any real payments to the hotel ?

My 2 cents: he had full intention on making a beautiful pesach program. He paid himself first and unfortunately didnt have enough signups. The phishing put him over the top and he decided to cancel the program.

I don't think he phished himself or made the phishing website.  (Confidence interval: 80%)

I don't have any idea whether he paid the phisher or not. (Confidence interval: 50%)

I don't think paying the phishing had any effect on the program, it was likely already dead by that point due to not paying the hotel anywhere close to what they expected. The hotel had most likely moved on by that point. (Confidence interval: 95%)

The phishing did make a good scapegoat though.

While I think you are wrong and you are trying to stick up for a friend who accuses everyone except himself, I too get annoyed at some people who accuse anyone who argues the unpopular side of things of trolling. You are not a troll just wrong. And you have every right to have and defend that (wrong ) opinion.
