"Rav Schachter suggested that when consumers kasher their own homes they do not leave even the most miniscule amount of residue on the utensils (i.e. they do not rely on the leniency outlined above), and they expect/assume that hashgachos hold themselves to a similar standard.  If one subscribes to this position,4 there is no room for leniency in the cleaning of equipment."

No room. Right. So just tell everyone to stay home..
believe it or not there rabanim hamachshirim who insist that all equipment be cleaned to perfection. This involves moving, dismantling, thorough cleaning (often with steam genis) and Kashering of the equipment the correct way (often with libun chamur) unfortunately most places are not up to par.

That is not the same as what you wrote.

But this is exactly the same as what CBC wrote (emphasis added):

unfortunately most places are not up to par.

And the procedure that @moko talks about is time consuming and expensive. Often it is avoided for the risk of ruining expensive equipment.

I recall when I was a bochur I went with a friend to kasher a place in the Catskills for Pesach. We were told to kasher oven pans (which obviously required libun chamur). Needless to say, the pans were rendered unusable. IINM after one or two we were visited by a regional mashgiach who said there's no way the pans get kashered. Libun will ruin them, anything less is unacceptable. Pans are cheap. Fryers and other commercial cooking equipment is not. Certain types of equipment will require a trained technician to dismantle and reassemble.

I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Far cry from the utter incompetence and foolishness  quoted above.

Yah, yah, PUOSU
Not to mention that most pesach hotels don't even use actual mainstream big kashrus organizations, that have at least some form of official standards (though very low ones at that).
The others I would assume just throw up their hands, cry out "hefsed merubeh"  , botel, pogum etc and keep it all moving....

Did you read the first bullet?
Besides the pieces of the dishwasher that are difficult to kasher can be replaced.

Yeah, apparently it doesn't apply to hotels.

are people really so desperate to go away for pesach that they would pay cash and not use a CC (so they can dispute)
