Not nice and uncalled for
Perhaps my wording was wrong, but I didn't mean it in a bad way. I meant to say that it usually takes a specific type of "smarts" to scam people, he isn't that

Any update on the situation? Doesn't it seem wierd that the hotel was holding so many rooms, and they didn't contact the owner once about not receiving the deposit? He claims that he only found out when he showed up at the hotel with the kashering equipment.

I don't see the train wreck......He presents himself very good. It's a VERY unfortunate situation that happened, and Jews are know to be Rachmunim Bnei Rechmunim, at least have sympathy with that guy.

Is it true his last program was also a disaster?

People see a cheap program and take on extra risk?

Not trying to preach, but can we try to be a little more careful with posting potential Lashon Harah on a public forum? Some of these comments seem to have maybe crossed that line and have no toeles.

When a program or for matter of this conversation any event has a no refund policy. Does that mean if the organizer messed up, got scammed,  or decided to cancel the program i am out money? What am I missing here? Isn't the no refund policy that I the customer cant back out?

This is what airlines were claiming during COVID before the DOT stepped in...

I order an item from Amazon. The night before delivery someone breaks into the Amazon warehouse and steals my product. Amazon calls me and says I hope you have insurance, because we aren't refunding you. Thats what I took out of the podcast ::)

Just listened. I think the most disappointing thing to me is that there are people in klal yisroel who have no qualms with calling another person all sorts of nasty names to his face, in a very public forum. As long as there’s a chance that the guy is just a victim of a terrible scam (which IMHO seems to be the case here), treating him like that is just evil. However much money any guest lost, this guy just lost many times more..

Aside from being rachmanim, we’re also supposed to be a nation of bayshanim. That people have no busha to talk that way is saddening and disappointing.

(Yes, I know people lost money, but that’s still not how we should treat any person. A person’s true self comes out בכוסו ובכיסו ובכעסו.)

If he has the means to refund he should start refunding from the minute the trip was canceled. But since he clearly doesn’t have any means to refund, unless he recovers the money ain’t no one getting paid any time soon.

Maybe if people weren't so "machmir" about LH then the current victims* would've gone into this with their eyes wide open.

Based on what I've heard, there has been a definite lack of proper planning and attention to detail in his previous programs. That characteristic plays a big role when falling for a scam like this.

*I understand the emotional aspect of not wanting to ruin someone's parnassa, but not when it comes from losing other yiddens' money (or not delivering on a paid program as promised).
