Pesach Program Discussion Master Thread

Have no plans of attending a Pesach program and can do my due-diligence, I’m just wondering what’s expected from someone on the street. Sadly, if someone wants to keep playing these games not much will stand in their way.

It should not be terribly difficult to make sure that the person has some sort of reputation and find out what that is

They see an ad, they have family going, they see influencers going, they sign up.

People who don't check anything at all before booking a program are not the target of any post you would make either. There could be plenty of negative stuff and they wouldn't know anyhow.

My thought is that more than the consumers, the more warnings there are about the individual himself, the less likely it will be for vendors, performers, and investors to work with him (as it is far more likely they will know who is behind the program than consumers). Hopefully that would help prevent him getting far enough to even have a program to advertise to consumers.

That is not everyone though. Some people probably do check. An article would accomplish two things: 1. people will read it 2. It will remain in Google search. If someone types in HG’s name or any of his affiliates, the article will come up.

Yes, but their friends are.
I have a friend who's spaced out (techwise) and when he told me that his flight was delayed for 24 hours i immediately posted it here on the forum and a few people posted how to get money back. I sent it to him and he received $2400 (for 2 delayed flights) within the month. Its only because i hang out here that i knew that he deserved compensation.
Same is when your neighbor or cousin tells you that they are planning to go to a hotel for Pesach you'll hopefully help them to check out the one they are planning on going to.

We need to start caring about other's instead of focusing on ourselves. What i mean to say is that we are so busy about not being Over on Loshon Hara that we are willing to let people lose their pants, women and kids get mo-lested, Rebbeim destroy our kids, speakers who aren't fitting teachers to poison our friends, and so much more...

What about others? So you may slip and get a little Gehenim. It's not worth it to save your friends, neighbors, relatives, and fellow congregants?

We should be calling out the influencers (speakers, entertainers, IG, etc) as well! They have a responsibility to their customers to know what they're selling!

Looking back at some of the court filings, it’s mind boggling that this guy can operate a Pesach program and be allowed to handle hundreds of thousands (maybe millions?) of dollars.

He has a fresh Chapter 13 bankruptcy filing in July 2022 where he declares that he owes out millions of dollars to creditors and does not have a penny to his name.

There is a lien on his Toms River home from a creditor that he owes more than 200K to. A judge has literally greenlit the creditor a couple weeks ago to collect on that asset (i.e. start foreclosure proceedings on his home).

I’m surprised the hotel didn’t do a credit check on him before allowing him to enter into a contract.

He wants everyone to leave him alone now so that he can run more programs and use that money to pay everyone back. Yet many people seem to just scream “motzie shem ra”.

Simple question:

When presented with evidence that someone impersonated *them* and diverted *their funds*, the Claridge - instead of spareheading the subsequent investigation - sent HG on his way?

As HG was scrolling through his emails on screen, I took two screenshots.

He was in breach of contract in January already.

He was also behind schedule on a revised payment plan in February, and was engaged in regular communication with the hotel.

I would add that seeing an ad on a site like DD would give it a certain amount of credibility in my eyes, as opposed to say, YWN.

It seems to me that you are not following the conversation. I was explaining why there is a benefit to a post even though he changes names and entities. It may be true that there are those who refuse to be helped, but they are not the target anyhow.

An אנזעצער isn't necessarily a scammer and a crook, but he's an אנזעצער and that would be emphasized.

A chronic אנזעצער is usually a crook and often a scammer too.
