Pesach Program Discussion Master Thread
« on: January 27, 2018, 07:11:24 PM »
Am I the only one bothered by this? Open any Frum publication and seemingly half the ads for Pesach Programs include blatant lies such as "5 Star Resort" (when its clearly a 2 or 3 star hotel off the NJ Turnpike) or "Only 3 Hour flight from NYC" when its 4.5-5.5 or "Catering by Reserve Cut" when they hire a former sous chef from there.

And thats besides for the misleading reports on weather (There's a reason why resorts in Greece are normally closed in late March) and canceled programs etc. Its become an industry built on dishonesty and it gets worse by the year. Wish more publications would call them out for their dishonesty but there are way too much advertising $$ at stake.

I'm sure lots of people here can share examples...

There was a discussion last year about this ( paging @TimT ), how nice it would be if there was a site that ppl can post their experiences.

I don't see anything wrong with this? Are you expecting a Waldorf for $4800?

A $100/night hotel that was renovated 10 years ago isn’t exactly a “luxury brand new renovated hotel.”

Still there isn't any of the initial complaints with this one.

Here’s one example:
Well. This seems to be catering to a certain crowd, that might not care about details.

One this noticeably absent from the ad is who is responsible for the Kashrus.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Here’s one example:

BEWARE OF THIS PLACE.

They change the name every year. i was there last year, no food, and horrible program. I cant even begin to tell you how bad this place is. there is no hashgocha. there was milicig and fleshig trays and dishes used interchangeably. i saw with my own eyes.

The fact that people go to these places without doing at least some semblance of research into the hashgacha absolutely boggles my mind, especially on Pesach.

Good on you, that's gotta be pretty hard to give up that much money. Did you dispute the charge?

Its a DoubleTree not a Hilton. You can't assume everyone knows who owns Doubletree.
