You get any compensation?
I paid half on a check. I told the guy that he should at least give me back half as I was only there two out of 8 days. he said lets talk after yom tov. (thinking he was honest and actually was trying to put out the dozen fires raging all over). in the end he didnt give me back a penny AND he sold my room to someone else. Yes I called the hotel and asked to be put through to my room, where I found a lovely couple that came and took the room. so he made even more money without refunding me. new rule for me, only cc or I wont go.

I found a place that was willing to take me and BH had an enjoyable rest of yom tov.

Ouch.

That's when a CC is needed.

There is a good chance that doing more research before would be better.

Unfortunately to some it is all about the money. Hopefully your warning will help others from getting ripped off.

new rule for me, only cc or I wont go.

How would such a rule help with any Kashrus issues?
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Unless the kashrus is below the advertised standard you can't, but for many of of the other issues it will.

I think he was referring to actually knowing the kashrus standard before you eat things there.

Well, since the advertisement has no Kashrus standard stated, nothing can be below that standard.

And if the standard was advertised and the actual kashrus is below the advertised standard, how does paying with a CC help?

There are a number of threads discussing programs, would be good to put them together.
Look carefully at ads, many do not advertise hashgocha. They advertise guest speakers, and people assume that if rabbi X eats there so can I. But does rabbi X actually eat there?

I would assume that while there was no hechsher on the ad there will be somewhere on the brochures etc that will it will be written.

I think he was referring to actually knowing the kashrus standard before you eat things there.

He says Rav Bardaya is the mashgocha. from my limited research hes a sefardi rabbi from brooklyn that has limited hashgocha experince. I saw for myself, (when I was in the kitchen trying to get some hot water for a coffee) that the place was flying with milichig and fleshig all over the place. no rabbi in sight. the hasgocha was far from the only issue. they let 10 kids in one room, so the hotel had about 1000 guests when in reality they should have 500 max. plus he rented out rooms in the hotel accross the street to anyone which made all the other guest suffer. limited stuffed dining room, drunk russian waiters that were hitting on woman,,, i can go on and on.
