A few interesting points...
A. Aprox 70% of the passengers were Israelis
B. If any non Israeli was on board but heading to TLV would they have allowed them off?
C. Did they unload Baggage?

A. With Elal charging what they do for their Reagan era 767's, I'm not surprised.
B. Don't see why not
C. I would be very surprised if they did.

Someone real holy must have been on board.
How do you get a group of lawyers to smile for a picture?

A: Just say "Fees!"

I wonder what equipment they had scheduled that day for AMM-TLV.

It might have been calculated knowing that a large percentage of passengers were heading to TLV. While I haven't taken the flight, I know someone who has taken it a few times, and told me that besides for Israelis, there are often many foreign (Thai and other Asian) workers heading to work in Israel on that route.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

I've flown both RJ and TK routes to Asia and the planes are loaded with Israelis. Its almost a rite of passage at this point for them to fly that way to Asia. Its also not really much longer because of the routes El Al has to fly.

DDF Motto to bash LY.

Someone once showed me that from the far East RJ is quicker vs LY even with the stopover due to the airspace closed to LY

And when they fly the 787 on the TLV-AMM route, it's ever more compelling I guess.

Would be an interesting concept (though I don't think it would happen in our lifetimes) if there would be a single airport that serves both countries like GVA (any others?)

Yeah, I thought that was odd when I flew TLV-AMM-JFK this summer - couldn't have been more than 50 people in economy on a plane with 250 seats.

They probably have nothing better to do with the plane between flights so this way they free up a smaller plane to go to Europe or the middle east.

DDF Motto to bash LY.

Maybe true but am I wrong?
I strongly advise my clients not to fly elal when there is an alternative option despite the fact that I make more money booking elal.

Regarding flights TLV-BKK:
The percentage of delays and problems with a 20 year old 767 vs a few year old 787 is alone a good enough reason to prefer RJ to BKK.
If you are flying Business class would you prefer an old 767 angle flat seat with no IFE or a brand new 787?
And as you mentioned, you save time as well!!!

All these good arguments to prefer RJ/TK and we haven't even mentioned the price!

I seem to recall seeing somewhere that they send it to TLV for maintenance. I already noted somewhere on DDF that I think this route sees the greatest variety of equipment serving it. I've seen 787s, A319, A320, A321 and E95,, E195, E75L on this route. Any other route globally served by such a variety?

Did RJ get 5th freedom rights?
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Wow, wonder how long LY's flight would stay in existence if that were to happen.

Maybe they got a Jewish manager who has the plane land in TLV every day for "bad visibility".
Iv'e been visiting a restaurant for the last 4 years where every time I come their "credit card machine broke today".

Why not? They’re not one of the big bad ME3, and definitely not QR that voluntarily agreed to no fifth freedom flights to the US.
