The pouch warns: Protect your card’s sensitive electronics – and your privacy. Keep the card in this sleeve when not in use.

Sounds nice, but annoying in practice. I’d rather keep this card in my wallet under my driver’s license.

Is this a real concern?

Same with the enhanced drivers license which comes with the foil.
You can be a potential target should you keep it out of the casing.

I keep it in the foil it came in, in the envelope it came in, in a drawer in my house. I haven't found it necessary to carry around.

No.

I distrust government-issued tinfoil hats pouches. They could just track you even easier that way.

Same. I have yet to find an instance where I need it.

I use it as a government issued ID in instances where I don't want agents knowing where I live.

+1, when would you ever need it where a passport or license wouldn't suffice?

Departing Canada to the US in order to use GE line you have to show them your card.

Also if you have Nexus you need to use the card to start the machine.

When entering Canada you need the card if you have Nexus IINM.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Yes IME many many times.

You don't have to actually show the card when entering it's just the first step to get the machine started...
