I've heard some crazy stories about LL Bean returns.  Sad that they ruined it for everyone.

I'm hopeful that most people who were using this for legitimate issues (like the old boots just tearing in a wierd place, the knapsack strap tearing, the coat falling apart) will still be ok

Seems it's just to enable them to say no when necessary.

if they tell people to go screw after a year they will start losing customers. What advantage is there in buying LL bean over lands end if neither stands behind their products? Lands End is way cheaper

Same... I know someone who had a pair of slippers that was 10 years old, and his dog chewed them up. He called up to see if they sold that model (they did), and he was telling the agent what happened and they said this is covered under the warranty you do not need to order another pair.
