I don't disagree with the article, but lifetime guarantee is about standing behind products that are supposed to be good enough quality to last a long time. You can't expect people to pay a premium for your stuff if your not willing to stand behind it. There should be some middle ground, like having a policy to accept returns for defects after a year etc.

Perhaps that’s what the last sentence refers to.

That is something they said they would still do.
But as mentioned before, now that it's not part of a policy, but instead up to whichever rep you get, it's not as reassuring. (Although I have found their csr's to be very helpful and understanding)
