Uh oh.  TRU says they can't sell me more than $1,000.  Cashier called the manager and manager called regional. Something about their being in bankruptcy.   With management like this, it is no surprise why they are going under.

I've bought 20k+ in one shot from TRU. No such rule.

And once you buy 20k+ in TRU (gcís I assume) what do you do with them? You earned the MS points but isnít that only worth about 2 maybe 3 %? If so, where is the gain when you sell the GCís for a greater discount than that 2-3% ? So much activity on these threads, I wish I understood this.

There is no reselling. Use the GoC GC as it is intended.  Load it onto their website, which you link to your 529 plan.  Then use the money to pay for college or HS.

But it may get much harder now.

But doesnít GoC charge a percentage that would offset the percentage gain from acquiring the points?

For example, if you earn 2% worth of points when you buy the TRU GC, even assuming they are purchased without any additional charge, and if GoC charges 3% to accept the TRU GC, then where is the gain? I just donít understand the numbers, please explain clearly.

Read the original post. When you buy a $500 GC in store at TRU it's a 1.2% fee. There are cards that give you more than 1.2% back + you can meet spending thresholds.

Right.  As Geshmak25 says, youíre not buying TRU GC. You are buying GOC GC and loading them.
