Now the facts we agree on.

1 - AR you use two hands and a handgun you use one.
Now are there any home defense situations you need a free hand?
Opening a door
Turning on a light
Calling the police
Helping or carrying your child to safety
The list goes on but you get the idea

2 - AR has a higher penetration than most handguns.
Collateral damage is higher with an AR.

3 - Easier to grab the barrel of an AR than a handgun.
You have to navigate a home where the barrel is going to sickout like a sore thumb.

The list goes on and on that prove a handgun is a better choice for home defense.

Are you familiar with RCP? They post videos from news stations verbatim all the time. They are not writing a journalistic article here.

Regarding RCP - first of all, it's not verbatim at all. And second of all, it doesn't lessen the journalistic burden on either the news stations they base the pieces off of, nor RCP themselves.

If the NRA can pay off politicians, why can't labor unions just pay them all off, if they spend so much more? The answer is that they do not pay off politicians, their power is not in money (unlike the labor unions) their power is in the number of people who agree with them, and vote with them, and donate with them. It's not the NRA it's the people.

3) Not true, but it's irrelevant. Most cops don't walk around with AR15s and keep handguns in their car in case they need to sweep a home, it goes the other way (they don't always go get long guns, but they never go switch their long guns out for handguns)

You don't understand guns or the data that is used. Do you understand a bullet has zero chance of going through 5 walls (ten pieces of drywall) without hitting something else. Your buddy posts something and you run with it. Do you live in a house that is completely empty? Are there things like solid doors, 2x4's, 2x8's, 2x10's, bookcases, furniture, appliances, plastic and steel pipes, metal sinks, closets and 100 other things that a bullet can hit?
