Officially niether gold or platinum member can confirm upgrades in advance it is based on availability upon arrival, I always contact the hotel in advance and many times they do upgrade me in advance to suites

You guys obviously don't realize that Levi has the number to people in Platinum Concierge that bow at him and kiss his toes if necessary. If there's any a guy who's hooked up, it's Levi.

I got the Hyatt Regency in North Brunswick for $45 a night last week which beats all deals you get from starwood.

That is a great price How were you able to get that? I would not say that it beats all deals from Starwoods that is 100% incorrect!!

I put in a 3 star in Princeton, NJ for $45 and that's what came back, I've had success in many neighborhoods for this price range with priceline.

Just maybe you can spare me the details on how to get lower fares from spg?!

Every situation is different, in this specific situation obviously its a better deal although many times I've gotten great rates from SPG and to top it off paying approximately $100 a night and getting upgraded to a suite valued at $2000 a night I belive is a much better deal

Have not stayed at the property, but pass it all the time and the area has a strong garbage smell.

I'm sure that there is no smell like that inside the hotel

Hotels in NYC

I'm dumb on this. I've never been to NY, but will be there at the end of August.

We're flying into White Plains and planning on going to the city for a couple days. Should I stay out by White Plains, should I stay in the city?

I'd like to do it as cheap as possible, simply because it will be the second trip I'm taking in the month of August.

Depends what youre looking for. If its only about money you can find some decently priced hotels in the city, but they will not be too nice. For your money you'll do better in White Plains

Will you be having a car? keep in mind even if you find a nice hotel in White Plains after gas and tolls you may just want to stay in the city
