WiFi Router recommendation
« on: February 19, 2018, 09:18:41 PM »
Looking for something under $100 if possible. I currently have a Linksys e1200 (or something like that) it's old and I have some dead spots in my house (and it's not a big house).

I have TW cable, the lowest plan, if that makes  difference, but may switch to FIOS.

Thanks!

Get a Netgear, at least a AC6700, preferably X4, X6, X8, or X10. I had a R7000 and now have a X8 and got it for under $200 like new on eBay so you should be able to get a decent deal there. If you have many networks around you'll need a mesh system but it's easily double the cost.

Any recommendations for around 50$ (willing to pay more if necessary)?
Needs to have good range (Two story house apt). I was looking at the TP-Link Archer AC1200 seems pretty decent ,any advise?

My old Cisco/Linksys Tomato died after several years of service.
I got an ASUS RT-AC66U B1 on Newegg for 99. (delivery with shoprunner), installed latest Merlin firmware on it.
Both hardware and software are awesome!  ;D

follow set-up instructions from
https://dfarq.homeip.net/recommended-asus-rt-ac66u-settings/
http://blog.ittoby.com/2013/01/setup-and-tweak-your-new-asus-rt-ac66u.html
you will have a great router with multiple network segments.
