The place is a bit dirty and not easy to go down the street with a pram (if that is relevant). you can buy lots of knockoffs etc.
there are some really nice hotels (however in Chaweng there aren't any hotels you can use points to stay). generally the service is really good and Thai ppl are very friendly.
I stayed at a very nice boutique hotel called Kirikayun . the rooms weren't big but everything else was great (pool right on/overlooking beach). it is a 7-8 minute walk from Chabad. there are many hotels closer if you dont to walk on shabbos. definitely do not need to rent a car.

I was in Hangzhou for one night a few years ago. I was only at the airport, best western and the train station. What are you trying to find out?

If its a cool place to hang out for an afternoon. Basically the choice is between there, Guangzhou (CAN), Chengdu (CTU), and Seoul (ICN)

As far as I know the big thing there is the lake, which doesn’t sound cool. Have you been to lowu commercial city (Shenzhen)? How long is your stopover?
