After HKG & BKK, where is the nicest place to spend a shabbos? Meals are not a concern. Looking for a walk friendly city, a shul would be nice.

Beijing, Singapore, Shanghai and Manila are ones that I know to be good

Looking for a place in Asia to stay over Shabbos on the way to CNX. Seems like the best options are Singapore or Beijing, and perhaps Ko Samui.

The atmosphere of the city (i.e. relaxed pace and american quality facilities) and quality of the Shabbos meals would be the deciding factor for me (I've eliminated HKG because of the crazy hotel prices).

Beijng has a negative - the price for the visa times 2, so not so thilled about that. Singapore sounds pretty good but not sure how the meals are. I'm unsure about Ko Samui in general and what the Shabbos situation is like in particular, it seems Chabad has a presence there but no idea about what the meals are like.  Any feedback on these 3 places or ideas about a different city?

Also, if I would land in Shanghai would I be able to use the 48 hour visa exemption to travel to Beijing or is it only for Shanghai?

Thanks

quick pointers, Beijing can be visited without visa if less than 24 hours and on stopover on their TWOV (transfer without visa)...  but you have to land in beijing.. about your question I'm not sure..

Also for Vietnam you can get visa on arrival if you order one online.. pretty straightforward..

From the feedback I got the meal situation at  CNX isn't so great. Seems like the food isn't so great and it's kind of a party place.

Yes, but not for Shabbos.

Had a good experience with Rabbi/Community

cnx is a very inspiring shabbos,  plenty of food . le meridien would not be the most kosher option for a shabbos stay, the shangrila would be the best kosher and logistic option.

the staircase could only be accessed with amira laakum, as they need to swipe an electronic card to get you passed the door to get to the staircase.

Correct, but I'm asking about SIN, PEK, or Ko smaui. Lets assume CNX is not a possability for Shabbos.
